Kuriakos Camp 

We are excited to share that this year’s contract athlete teambuilding event will be bringing our (8+) athletes to the Kuriakos Camp from August 21-22, 2024. 

Located 2 hours from Edmonton in Lacombe County (on Sylvan Lake), our campers will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of activities with their teammates and coaches and refresh themselves as we roll into the Fall Session. 

The Kuriakos Camp staff will be leading a variety of activities throughout the camp, and our OGC staff will be present to support and supervise open activity times, making it a fun experience for all. 

Transport to and from Camp 

OGC will be chartering a bus for our athletes to bring them to and from camp, and will have our drop-off and pick-up times as follows: 

• Drop-Off: August 21, 2024 – 7:30 AM – Ortona Gymnastics Parking Lot (Bus departs OGC at 8:00 AM) 

• Pick Up: August 22, 2024- 5:00 PM – Ortona Gymnastics Parking Lot (Bus departs Kuriakos at 3:00 PM) 

Meals 

Meals will be provided by Kuriakos throughout the duration of the camp. Kuriakos is able to accommodate most dietary requests, and if your child has any dietary considerations, please let us know so we can ensure your child’s needs are met. 

Camp Activities 

Throughout the camp, there will be a variety of activities both led by the Kuriakos Camp staff, as well as open activities that OGC Staff will be supervise. 

Below is a summary of the various Camp-Led and Open Activities on offer: 

Open Activities 

• Swimming (Lifeguard will be on duty and OGC Staff will supervise) 

• Bouldering Wall (OGC Staff will Supervise); 

• Gaga Ball; 9-Square; 

• Outdoor Basketball Court; 

• Frisbee Golf 

• Pianos (in Kuriakos Centre Dining Hall and Rec Room, ARC, Dana Lodge, Chapel)

• Climbing Tower 

• High Ropes Challenge Course(12+)/Low Level Challenge Course 

• Archery 

• Knots and Shelters 

• Navigation and Orienteering 

• Canoe Instruction 

• Campfire and S’mores

• Shelter-building and Knot-Tying

Community Care Tasks 

As a part of the Kuriakos camp experience, all campers and support staff will contribute to a few community care tasks each day to keep the camp facilities in clean and tidy condition. These tasks may include tidying activity areas, sweeping floors, etc. This should take about 15 minutes per day and will provide some life-skill experience for our campers.  

Accommodations & Groupings 

Kuriakos has a variety of lodges with bunk beds that our campers will be staying in. Each lodge will have multiple OGC Staff Members in each to supervise and support campers as needed. 

Camper groupings will be assigned by OGC Staff following the registration deadline and will be distributed before the camp. 

Registration Fee

The cost to register for this camp is $165.00 (includes transportation/meals/accommodation/activities)
